charmotion
AI mascot animator

Your mascot, animated for every moment in your product.

Upload the mascot you already have. AI-assisted analysis finds its head, eyes, arms and accessories, then our engine rigs your own artwork and animates loading, success, error, empty states, greetings and assistant reactions — in Rive, video, GIF and code.

This is the actual .riv our engine delivers, playing in your browser — the same state machine you drive from your app with one number input and a trigger per one-shot.

How can I animate my existing mascot for my app?

Rig your existing artwork and animate the states your app uses — idle, loading, success, error, empty state — then ship them as a Rive file your code switches between. Do it yourself in the Rive editor, or upload the mascot to a generator such as Charmotion, which delivers 17 animations as Rive, video, GIF and code.

How to Animate a Mascot Without After Effects

What are the alternatives to hiring a motion designer for a mascot?

Use ready-made templates if it needn't be your character, animate it yourself in Rive or Lottie Creator, generate app-ready states from your mascot image with a tool such as Charmotion, use AI image-to-video for one-off clips, or hire a freelancer for a small fixed scope.

Where the AI is — and where it isn't

Your artwork is never redrawn

AI-assisted checks decide which part is a head, an eye or an arm. The motion itself is rigged and keyframed in Rive from your own pixels or traced shapes, so what you download is your mascot, moving — not a lookalike. Uploads are processed on our own machines and never used for training.

No mascot yet? Describe it

Choose Describe it, write a sentence, and our AI draws a flat, animation-friendly character you can animate like any upload. AI designs are included in every plan — 8 a month on Starter, 12 on Studio — and never use up a set.

Rive state machine Studio

One tiny vector file instead of 17 videos. It’s what powers the demo at the top of this page.

import { useRive, useStateMachineInput } from "@rive-app/react-canvas";

export function Pip({ mood = 0 }) {
  const { rive, RiveComponent } = useRive({
    src: "/pip.riv",
    stateMachine: "CharacterStateMachine",
    autoplay: true,
  });
  const input = useStateMachineInput(rive, "CharacterStateMachine", "mood");
  if (input) input.value = mood; // 0 idle · 1 happy · 2 wave · 3 thinking · 4 sad · 5 loading …
  return <RiveComponent style={{ width: 320, height: 320 }} />;
}

FAQ

Before you start.

More in the full FAQ.

Can the mascot react to things happening in my app?

Yes, with the Rive file: set the mood number for loops and fire a trigger such as success or error for one-shots. The included React and SwiftUI components wrap both.

Does it work for a chatbot or voice assistant avatar?

Yes. The set includes listening, thinking and talking loops plus yes and no reactions, which map directly to chat and voice-agent states.

Will the mascot look the same as my brand artwork?

Yes. The rig moves your own pixels or traced shapes; nothing is regenerated. Flat, front-facing mascots get the fullest motion, including arm waves and expressions.

Can I use the animations commercially?

Yes, worldwide and without expiry, in apps, sites, ads and videos — including after you cancel a monthly plan.

See it with your character first.
