Rive vs Lottie: what's the difference?
Published · 0:30
Lottie plays After Effects animations exported as JSON with Bodymovin, or packaged as .lottie; Rive animations are made in the Rive editor and exported as binary .riv files. Both support interactivity now: Lottie Creator added dotLottie state machines in 2025, while the state machine is built into Rive's format.
